The time on the ContourGPS is set directly by the GPS receiver in the camera. Every time that the camera establishes a position fix from the GPS satellites, it will adjust the camera's time settings. The time will always be set to UTC (formerly known as Greenwich Mean Time or GMT). Depending on how many time zones you are away from UTC, this is how many hours different the time on your camera will be from your local time.
If the battery is removed or the power is completely drained, the camera will revert to a factory default time until the camera obtains a new position fix over GPS.
If you disable GPS in the camera settings, you can configure the camera time to reflect that of your local computer using our Storyteller software. Once the GPS is turned back on, it will always revert to UTC.
