For any of the Contour cameras equipped with GPS feature, you can capture latitude, longitude, and elevation while recording videos. That GPS data can then by displayed as location, speed, and elevation when playing your videos in Storyteller or on the Contour.com website.
An internet connection is required to display the GPS data with your videos.
In Storyteller, the GPS data will be displayed in a Google map window inset to the video window. On the Contour.com website, the GPS data will be displayed in a Google map next to video on the page.
Contour GPS enabled cameras will begin searching for a GPS fix when they are powered on. You should verify that your camera has a position fix prior to recording to be sure that the information is captured during your recording.
For help with getting a position fix, see the article called Using the GPS feature.
It should be noted that editing, converting, or transcoding videos can potentially strip the video of GPS data. To edit videos and retain GPS data, we recommend exporting your GPS data prior to editing and adding it back once editing is complete. For steps on how to import and export GPS data, see the article called How to export or import the GPS data from videos.
