Why won't my camera record videos?

There are a couple of common reasons that the ContourHD 720p or 1080p cameras will not record.

One possibility is that the microSD card in the camera is full. The camera will not record until there is room again on the microSD card.

If you have recorded videos to your camera in the past and are not sure if you have since deleted them off the camera, this would be the first thing to check. Plug the camera into your computer. It will show up on your computer as a removable storage device. Open that device and the open the DCIM folder. Now open the 100Media folder. Any videos currently on the camera's microSD card will appear in this folder. Drag these to the trash can or recycle bin or delete them to free up space.

Don't forget to make backup copies of any videos you wish to keep before deleting them from the card.

On Mac laptops and desktops, you will need to perform one additional step. You MUST empty the computer's trash before ejecting the camera from the computer. Otherwise the files you just trashed will continue to take up space in the microSD card.

Another possibility is that the record switch may have a bad magnet.  To test this, turn the camera on and hold a magnet on top of the camera in the space where the record switch would normally slide in to.  If the record light on the front of the camera turns red then you know that the record switch is bad.  If you have a bad record switch, contact suport for assistance on getting this fixed.
